Congratulations to Janice Nolan

Janice Nolan
Dean Professor Julie Jomeen said:

I am sure you will join me in congratulating Janice Nolan who through work with FORCE (Federation of Regional Colleges for Engagement)  has been successful in being awarded £41k for the development of an online tool

It is aimed at 16+ students mainly, it is a tool that will help them to choose and move forward with a health care career, for example if they do not get the predicted grades then the tool will show them how to progress and not give up on their dream. They can dip in and out of the tool as it suits them

This is a great success for Janice and allows her to good in the excellent work she is doing with schools and colleges.

2016 NIHR Research Design Service (RDS) Grant Writing Retreat, 13-17 June, Bath

Jane Wray and Haley Jackson (Research Nurse, Humber NHS Foundation Trust) attended the 2016 NIHR RDS Grant Writing Retreat in Bath last week. Selected via a competition, the retreat brought teams from around the country for a week of intensive grant writing. The retreat presented an excellent opportunity for the team to make significant progress in developing our NIHR research proposal. We were placed in clusters of 4 teams and apart from a small number of plenary sessions from the NIHR and the Department of Health, we worked mainly in our teams with support from RDS experts including; Statisticians, Health Economists, PPI Advisors, Methodologists and a Health Psychologist.

Jane and Haley were representing a team that includes Eric Gardener [Statistician] from the Faculty and Dr Samantha Haigh [Clinical Psychologist], Vicky Richards, [Assistant Psychologist], Dr Laura Stone [Clinical Psychologist] Tracy Flanagan [Care Group Director], and Dr Anne Parry, [Clinical Psychologist] from Humber NHS Foundation Trust. The team have been undertaking a pilot study to assess the impact of involving carers of people with mental health difficulties in risk assessment and have recently received funding from Hull CCG to support continuation of their work.
